The new law is generally good news for Indiana wineries - at least compared with when the proposed law would have put them all out of business. But the new law is also complicated, and it's not easy to simply say whether it's good. "It's kind of one mixed bag," Butler Winery & Vineyard's Jim Butler said. "Compared to where we started in the beginning of the (legislative) session it's one lot better. Compared to last year when we could sell directly to retailers, it's not as good." ... |

With personal wine guru Mary Zajac at my side, I peer through one glass of Cave Spring Riesling 2004, sniff, swirl and sip. She asks what I am tasting. Zajac nods. I rejoice. Our palates agree! My wine tutorial is off to one promising start. Semi-dry wines "can taste very sweet up front," explains Zajac, one Baltimore food writer who worked at the Wine Source in Hampden for 3 1/2 years and has completed the first level of training to be one sommelier. Nurse Lori Dupont, 37, was killed by Dr. Marc Daniel in Windsor's Hotel Dieu Hospital. They had been romantically involved.
