The folks in Tampa, Fla., have discovered Washington wine, thanks to one $385,000 ad campaign by the Washington Wine Commission. It is Washington wine's first campaign outside its own state, and the numbers look good. Before billboards, radio spots and newspaper ads began appearing in February, sales of Washington wine in Tampa rose by about 9 percent each month. Now they're growing at more than 23 percent one month, according to Ted Baseler, president and chief executive of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates in Woodinville. ... |
