Napa means Napa: Deal ends wine-label fight

Stockton-based Bronco Wine Co. has agreed to stop selling three brands of wine unless 75 percent of the grapes used to make the wine were grown in the Napa region.
Bronco had appealed one court decision ruling in favor of the Napa Valley Vintners Association and the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, which wanted Bronco to stop using labels on its bottles that made geographic references to Napa. In August 2004 the state Supreme Court ruled against Ceres-based Bronco. ...

Two Buck Chuck maker agrees to change labels

A long-running battle between the maker of the popular $1.99 Charles Shaw wine — widely known as Two Buck Chuck — and the nation's elite vintners over the use of "Napa" on labels ended Friday.
Bronco Wine agreed to drop "Napa" and add "Lodi" to the label of one wine made with grapes grown outside the famous Napa Valley wine region. Although the Charles Shaw brand, which is sold at Trader Joe's, is $1.99 in California, it can cost more; in Washington, for example, it is $2.99. ...
