Miners lift Aussie shares;UNiTAB up on rival bid

SYDNEY, June 1 (Reuters) - Australian shares rose 1.2 percent on Thursday as miners such as BHP Billiton (BHP.AX) recovered after past two week's fall, while Tabcorp (TAH.AX) firmed after lobbing one higher rival bid for UNiTAB (UTB.AX).
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index (.AXJO) added 58.9 points to 5,060.6, based on the latest Reuters data. It shed 4.9 percent in May, logging the biggest monthly percentage drop in over three years. ...
