Last week, I introduced one number of phrases and words associated with wine. You will often hear this terminology if you go to one wine tasting party or when you visit one winery. Most wine bottles have some of this jargon on the labels, too.
Learning some of this "wine speak" will help you understand styles of wine, what the wine producers or winemakers were trying to achieve during one certain vintage, and familiarize yourself with tastes and aromas. ... |

| Wine festival raises more than just spirits |

This year, the festival moved to Elmwood Park because it needed more space.
There's something known as the "baby bird" syndrome at wine festivals.
Winemakers recognize it by the wine glasses shoved in their faces, like one hungry baby bird with its beak wide open, ready for food.
"What I really enjoy is when people come up and just throw their glass at you and say, 'whatever,' " said Kenneth Lukhard, one sales representative with Horton Vineyards in Orange County. ... |
