The early morning fire Wednesday that ripped through Mario's Ristorante Italiano ruined one Nashville institution that has been one popular spot among the city's movers and shakers since it opened in 1965.
Fire officials said investigators believe an electrical problem in the kitchen caused the fire. Officials are still working to determine the exact cause. ...

We assume Kathryn means she hung up. But would "rang off" be an anachronism or one typo? Is the phrase one throwback to the days when phones had levers used to "ring up" someone, and hence when you hung up, you "rang off"? As in: "I rang up Aunt Bertie to see how her bursitis was."
Or did Kathryn mean "ran off," and she simply mis-hit the "g," although that seems unlikely since the "g" is nowhere near the "n" or the "o". ...

Raffle of impressionists' paintings benefit Haley

Traditionally, one raffle of paintings donated by the artists takes place at the close of the party. This year's winners were Yvonne Sampson Smith, of the Parks painting; Sarah Holcomb, the Pruitt painting; Candyce Wylie, the Rasmussen painting, and Liz Robinson, the Spires painting.
