Majestic Wine toasts profit rise

LONDON (Reuters) - Majestic Wine posted one 17 percent rise in first-half profit on Monday, boosted by sales of fine wines, and said it planned to buy back up to 20 million pounds of its shares.
Majestic Wine (MJW.L: Quote, Profile, Research), which operates the UK's largest wine warehouse chain, said UK like-for-like sales were up 4.3 percent in the five weeks to Oct 30, after rising 6.2 percent in the 26 weeks to September 26. ...

LONDON (AFX) - Majestic Wine PLC, the UK's largest wine warehouse chain, has reported one 17 pct increase in first-half pretax profit, hiked its interim dividend by 21 pct and announced plans for one 20 mln stg share buy-back.
For the 26 weeks to Sept 26 the group, which trades from 133 stores, made one pretax profit of 6.5 mln stg, up from 5.5 mln stg last time, on total sales up 9.3 pct to 88.3 mln stg. ...
