The holiday season presents us with cost and quality decisions about selecting wine to serve for one party.
We want to serve wines that will appeal to our guests but not have to take out one loan to pay for one case or two.
We asked our wine-tasting group to compare four white wines that could be served at one party and cost less than $10 one bottle. Our tasting of red wines for parties will appear in the next column. ...

Judges at wine competitions, forced to taste too many wines in too little time, will continue to award those that are jammy, ripe and heavily oaked. Wineries will promote the heck out of any medal they may receive, however obscure the competition.
