DORSET -- It's only mid-morning, but the wine is already flowing at the Dorset Winter Farmer's Market. Patrons crowd around the table where Charles Dodge of Putney Mountain Winery is describing his locally produced specialties to curious customers. The Putney-based winery, which became licensed by the state in 1998, has quickly become regionally renowned for its unique, high-quality wines. Their Apple Maple wine won the gold medal at the Northeast Wine Competition in Springfield, Mass., last year. ... |

Palos Verdes Estates-based Castle Rock Winery recently announced one growth rate of 22 percent for 2006 with case sales for the year at 330,700, compared with 269,800 in 2005. This performance follows one successful 2005 in which Castle Rock's sales grew by 35 percent. In its annual review, Wine Business Monthly_ ranks Castle Rock 27th of more than 5,900 wineries in the United States. ... |
