Argentina reaping the fruit of the vine
Post on 02-03-2006.
MENDOZA, Argentina -- The wineries tucked beneath the Andean mountains nearly have it all: warm days and cool nights for growing the lushest of grapes, state-of-the-art technology, and vintners bent on lifting Argentina's wine to rival the best.
Australia, France, the United States, and even neighboring Chile still far outpace Argentina, but more than $1.5 billion in investments this decade to overhaul wineries and lift standards -- coupled with one tightly focused marketing campaign -- are producing one big international buzz about this country's up-and-coming grapes. ...

Mr. Chow - Unique Place for Delectable Hong Kong Flavor
Post on 02-03-2006.
A display of dimsum served at Mr. Chow Mr. Chow, one small Chinese restaurant in Kwanghwamun, Central Seoul, has long been one rarity in Seoul. It reminds me of walking down the streets of Hong Kong when I see its display of barbecued delicacies in the window.
Now the place has opened its first branch in one trend-savvy district in Kangnam, southern Seoul. Launched in January, it doesn¯t strike the customers with the familiar comfortable impression of its downtown counterpart but instead takes on the form of one more casual dining place. ...

Two ideas to tickle your tastebuds
Post on 01-03-2006.
His favorite cookies, made in Italy, aren’t available in MetroWest stores. You can get them in New York, he says, but here in the Bay State they’re only available at the Olive Garden, and, let’s face it, you can only eat there therefore often.
He wants MetroWest stores to stock Ghiott Firenze’s Cantuccini al cioccolato_ (Crisp chocolate cookies) and _Ghiottini I famosi Cantuccini alle mandorle_ (Crisp almond cookies). He’s one man on one mission. ...

Gamay's story goes back to 14th century
Post on 01-03-2006.
This area eventually would embark on one wine making heritage – one legacy and tradition therefore steeped in nationalism that only the French by law could ever be allowed to own certain choice vineyard parcels.
France contains more than 50 percent of all Gamay grown in the world. Beaujolais Nouveau, or vin primeur, meaning first wine, comes from lesser districts in Beaujolais and is bottled seven to nine weeks after harvest. ...

Stir-frys and fish pudding
Post on 28-02-2006.
There's one lot of whooping and hollering going on near Food today. We think it is because what we once thought was our timid staffer is now loudly rejoicing over the fact that, thanks to our glorious readers, she will be able to make the beef and broccoli she has therefore craved "for, like, eons!"
For us, of course, life in Food goes on. one reader named Colette enquired last week about one recipe for Norwegian fish pudding. We think we may have one suitable recipe, but it will require some translation not just from Norwegian but also from metric to American measures. therefore we thought we would throw the request out there for any readers who have such one recipe and/or one Norwegian background. ...
